From this program participants will:
1. Gain new insights into the biological roots of common mental health
disorders including anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD and Alzheimer’s and
how these may be connected.
2. Learn the principles underlying the latest non-pharmaceutical
treatments for these disorders. Too vague- use words like “useful” and
“practical”
3. Discover the new science of Epigenetics and what clients can do to
overcome genetic predispositions to reduce their risk for cognitive
decline. Good!
4. Better understand the concepts of neuroplasticity and cognitive
reserve and proven strategies for increasing each of these through
what? Needs to be a bit more specific
5. Review [the burgeoning but seldom seen DELETE] recent research
demonstrating the superior value of using diet, food supplements, and
physical activities to complement and enhance the effectiveness of
cognitive therapies.
6. Would restate the above: Participants will learn to integrate diet,
food supplements, etc, with cognitive therapy.
7. Understand why a natural approach is often safer and more effective
than a primarily pharmaceutical approach, and limitations and dangers
in each. Restate: Learn safe and effective alternatives to
pharmaceutical treatment.
8. Gain insight [vague; say: Practice selecting, or gain skills in
selecting a variety of tests that can be used to identify biological
needs and where to refer for such testing.
9. Understand the orientation in the growing fields of Functional and
Complementary Medicine and how to identify qualified providers for
referral.
10. Explore effective lifestyle interventions for mental health in the
domains of diet and nutrition, physical and mental activity, sleep and
social interaction.
11. Learn the legal boundaries and restrictions and how to make
appropriate recommendations and referrals to optimize client mental
health.
